Fujifilm y la facultad de medicina de la Universidad de Indiana estudiarán el uso de la IA en la imagenología diagnostica

En el futuro, a medida que la información clínica se vea cada vez más en el contexto de los grandes datos, se aplicará la tecnología de IA para desarrollar productos que satisfagan las diferentes y desafiantes necesidades de la industria del cuidado de la salud. Por ejemplo, los recientes avances tecnológicos en las capacidades del sistema de diagnóstico por imágenes, como la TC de múltiples cortes, han creado la necesidad de una solución eficiente para leer e interpretar el mayor número de imágenes que se generan. Se espera que la aplicación de la tecnología IA ayude a los médicos mediante la detección de lesiones sospechosas en las imágenes, la comparación de los resultados con los de estudios previos y que la implementación de informes semiautomáticos aumente significativamente la eficiencia de las imágenes médicas de diagnóstico en la atención de los pacientes.

Fujifilm utiliza la tecnología de inteligencia artificial para desarrollar sistemas de apoyo para el diagnóstico de imágenes, lo que respaldará el flujo de trabajo de diagnóstico de los médicos. Además de llevar a cabo varios proyectos de desarrollo interno, Fujifilm también busca la creación de asociaciones con los principales proveedores de tecnología de inteligencia artificial para ampliar la cobertura de enfermedades de sus sistemas. La facultad de medicina de la Universidad de Indiana está afiliada con Indiana University Health (IU Health), un sistema de atención médica con 17 hospitales y aproximadamente 33.000 empleados en los Estados Unidos.

La colaboración pretende combinar el procesamiento de imágenes y la tecnología de IA de Fujifilm con la rica experiencia clínica y de diagnóstico de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Indiana para desarrollar tecnología médica de IA, mientras busca un sistema optimizado para respaldar el flujo de trabajo de diagnóstico. La investigación utilizará inicialmente la tecnología de IA de Fujifilm para segmentar y cuantificar la atrofia muscular (sarcopenia) en las imágenes del cuerpo, así como para detectar y cuantificar las lesiones cerebrales en los exámenes de neurorradiología.
